Solo for Diamonds, a revolutionary jewelry brand founded by Yuliya Kusher in 2018, is making waves in the world of fine jewelry with its unique and sustainable approach to lab-grown diamonds.
After relocating to New York City from Kyiv in 2022, following the start of the war, Kusher continues to lead her brand with a vision focused on innovation, minimalism, and sustainability.
When Kusher founded Solo for Diamonds, she chose the name “Solo” to reflect her vision: focusing on the beauty and prominence of a single diamond.
“The most important part is the stone,” Kusher explains. “You don’t need a lot of small stones because they distract from the main asset, which is the diamond.”
This philosophy has guided the brand from its inception, and Solo’s pieces are designed to showcase just one statement diamond, available in various shapes.
Initially launched in Ukraine, the collection was met with success, prompting Kusher to take her innovative designs to the U.S. market, where she knew the demand for something distinct and bold existed.
For the U.S. market, Kusher sought to introduce something truly groundbreaking: lab-grown diamonds set in bio-resin. This lightweight, sustainable material, derived from plant oils, allows for endless design possibilities.
As Kusher points out, “We are all used to seeing diamonds in gold or platinum, but lab-grown diamonds open up a world of possibilities for so many other materials.”
Solo for Diamonds uses HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) technology to craft a stunning array of lab-grown diamonds in a spectrum of colors, including pink, blue, yellow, green, and colorless.
These diamonds are then paired with transparent bio-resin, creating modern, visually striking pieces. One of the standout creations from the collection is a green bio-resin ring with a yellow lab-grown diamond, which Kusher describes as a favorite among customers.
Staying true to her minimalist design philosophy, Kusher’s rings exude a futuristic, almost “space-age” appeal, particularly the transparent pieces that make the diamond appear as though it is floating on the finger.
These designs not only offer bold diamond aesthetics but also give wearers the freedom to pair them with everyday outfits, from casual jeans to swimsuits. “It’s still a jewelry piece that will make you feel like you have something beautiful on,” she says.
The Solo for Diamonds collection ranges from $3,000 to $80,000 and is predominantly made up of rings. However, Kusher has recently expanded the range to include bio-resin earrings featuring blue and colorless lab-grown diamonds, with plans to introduce bracelets in the near future. “We are always adding more pieces,” Kusher shares.
One potential future design in the works is a bio-resin engagement ring, which Kusher envisions as the ideal choice for brides who want a unique alternative to traditional jewelry. “The transparent ring with the white stone is a hit for brides who don’t want to be so classic,” she says. “It looks like a really huge floating diamond on your hand.”
Solo for Diamonds’ innovative designs continue to capture attention for their sustainability, boldness, and cutting-edge style.
With a growing collection that showcases the beauty of lab-grown diamonds in a variety of unexpected materials, the brand is set to make a lasting impact on the future of fine jewelry.
